Asset: Sigma Thermal Process Bath Heater / Industrial Heat Exchanger
Phase: Pre-transit encapsulation for intermodal freight.
Objective: Protect precision burner assemblies, refractory linings, and machined flange faces from moisture, oxidation, and debris during long-haul transport.
The Risks: Why Industrial Heaters Require Containment
Process heaters are massive, but their internal and external "business ends" are delicate. Exposure during transit or outdoor storage leads to:
Internal Refractory Damage: Bath heaters often have internal refractory ceramic lining. Moisture ingress can saturate this lining, leading to cracking or "spalling" when the unit is first fired up.
Flange Face Oxidation: The large mating surfaces (currently protected by blue VCI film in the image) must remain perfectly smooth for a high-pressure seal. Even minor flash rust requires expensive on-site machining.
Burner Assembly Fouling: The combustion head and sensitive gas train components are susceptible to road grime, salt, and nesting insects, which can cause ignition failure upon arrival.
Atmospheric Pitting: Large-diameter vessels are prone to surface pitting in salt-air environments, which can compromise the long-term pressure rating of the shell.
The Solution: Safe Seal Wrap Engineered Containment
Safe Seal Wrap provides a robust, airtight barrier that standard tarps or thin films cannot maintain:
VCI Integration: We work in tandem with VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) base layers (the blue film shown) to provide dual-action chemical and physical protection.
Heavy-Duty Encapsulation: A drum-tight, heat-welded polyethylene skin is applied over the entire chassis, ensuring zero wind-flap or moisture entry at highway speeds.
Reflective UV Protection: Our white film stabilizes internal temperatures, preventing "sweating" (internal condensation) caused by day/night thermal cycling.
Custom Access Points: If the unit requires humidity monitoring or desiccant changes during a long hiatus, we install weather-tight zipper access ports without breaking the primary seal.
Stakeholder Benefit: Commissioning Readiness
By utilizing Safe Seal Wrap, EPC firms and plant operators ensure the heater arrives at the job site in commissioning-ready condition. This eliminates the need for refractory drying cycles or flange face cleaning, keeping the project on its critical path.
"A bath heater is only as reliable as its first fire. We ensure the elements never touch the core."
